Silence is Golden

Jessica | January 4, 2016

Silence is golden.  Have you heard this popular quote?  While this quote is fairly popular, silence is something that our society is often not comfortable with.  We assume that silence is a bad thing, often interrupting these quiet moments with conversation.  I know all too well the feeling of isolation that follow a death by suicide.   FrienQuoteds and family stop calling as they report not knowing what to say.  So instead, they just say nothing.  I wish I could tell everyone that sometimes saying nothing is the best thing you can do.  It isn’t about what you say, it’s about being there.  During my grief journey, I have learned to embrace silence.  Silence leads to reflection.  Silence leads to growth.  Silence leads to acceptance.  Allow yourself time to just be.
