What is Complicated Grief?

Jessica | June 16, 2016

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about the differences between depression and grief.  While depression and grief can look similar, they are not the same.  I wanted to share a recent interview I gave on The Gift of Second site where I talk about complicated grief.  After losing a loved one to suicide, many experience symptoms that look similar to depression as you search to find your place in a world that no longer looks familiar.  For most, the overwhelming pain begins to subside and we are able to experience joy again.  However, for some the pain never subsides.  Something is impacting their ability to effectively mourn the loss of their loved one.  I encourage everyone to take a look at the video to see if you may be experiencing symptoms of complicated grief.  I have also included a great resource for anyone who feels like they are living with complicated grief.
