Are we Weak?

Jessica | January 30, 2017

What picture comes to mind when I use the word “weak”?  When I think about the word, I struggle to find an image.  CourageWeak is difficult to define, yet as survivors of a suicide loss we often use this word to define ourselves.  Countless times I have heard another survivor call themselves “weak” noting that they struggle to get through the day.  To me, that is the definition of strength not weakness.  It takes strength to get up.  It takes strength to go to work.  It takes strength to just breathe.  Do not sell yourself short.  As survivors of a suicide loss, we aren’t weak.  We are a few of the strongest people I know.  Don’t quit.  Have faith in a better tomorrow.

Very well said. I remind my two boys everyday that it takes strength everyday to keep moving forward. Even if it is one step and they need to cry, that one step is the most important step of the day.
